Caustic Soda

Caustic soda, chemically known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), is a strong base. It is usually a white solid, easily soluble in water, and gives off a lot of heat when dissolved. Caustic soda is very corrosive and is widely used in the chemical, paper, textile, printing and dyeing industries for the manufacture of soaps, detergents, paper, etc. It can also be used for water treatment and acid-base neutralization reactions. It should be used with protection to avoid contact with skin and eyes.
